Background and Historical Reforms

The NCKU School of Pharmacy, which began enrolling students in the 2014 academic year, is a newly established pharmacy department in Taiwan in the past fifty years. Only graduates of a pharmacy department are qualified to take the pharmacist licensing exam. Pharmacists are professionals legally authorized to supervise the manufacturing of medicines and ensure their efficacy and safe use.

As early as 1993, the NCKU College of Medicine established the nation's first master's program in Clinical Pharmacy, making it the top choice for pharmacy graduates seeking advanced studies in pharmaceutical care. Our graduates work in a variety of fields, including teaching hospitals, government agencies, R&D units, and pharmaceutical companies. They are highly praised and often receive promotions faster than their peers.

In recent years, the development of Taiwan's healthcare and pharmaceutical technology industries has created a pressing need for advanced pharmacy professionals. Given our abundant educational resources and outstanding track record in teaching clinical pharmacy and pharmaceutical technology, we were granted approval by the Ministry of Education to establish a six-year pharmacy program to cultivate more pharmaceutical talent that meets national demand.
